DIVA Event: Brooklyn Bodega’s October 20th “Show and Prove” Finalists

“Following the success of the Show and Prove showcase/competition, I noticed the lack of a female presence on the stage, but recognized their strong presence in the crowd. It hit me that ‘Show And Prove’ is an obvious platform to show that Hip Hop is not gender struck. Without MC’s like Rage, Bahamadia, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Rah Digga and so many more, Hip-Hop would not be what it is today. YUME and Brooklyn Bodega feel responsible to provide a launching point for emerging female MCs and artists who are so often overlooked.” – YUME Member Michael Peterson
