I know some DIVA will get mad about this one because they feel like they’re holding it down for the ladies in hip hop, but, I’ve got to say what’s real…WHERE ARE THE HIP HOP DIVAS?
I know you’re out there, but why don’t WE know where you are and what you have going on? Come on ladies, we’ve got to do better! Hip hop is dominating the music scene and we cannot miss out on this opportunity to make our mark. I know you think you grinding but you’ve got to grind harder. We’ve got to come together and make our impact NOW!
Okay, let me calm down a bit. It’s not as if there isn’t anyone out there, but, let’s be honest, there’s only a few. I don’t want to call names but you and I know who’s out there. If you think you’re out there, and we don’t know about it, then that means you’re not out there. Hip Hop seems to be void a female presence right now. Don’t leave it to Plies, T.I. and whoever else speaking to the ladies to fill that space. Who knows ladies better than we know ourselves? Who knows what we want to hear better than we do? Who knows what’ll make us hit the dance floor better than us? Who knows what we really go through in our relationships better than we do?
All you Hip Hop Divas, this is your site. Let me know what you’ve got going on and I will promote it with you. Do you rap, sing, dance, model, or produce and want exposure? Send me what you have and I will expose it on this site. You design clothing, jewelry, shoes, or graphics? Let me know how to get it and I will let the other Divas know. You own a store that sells clothing, jewelry, music, shoes, or whatever? Let me know where you are and I will broadcast it to the world. Are you a promoter, manager, publicist, writer, photographer, artist, DJ, or stylist? Let me know what you have to offer and I will let the Divas know how to get it. Are you making a difference in your community? Let me know and I will let the other Divas know how they can help. I’m not just talking about it’ I’m going to be about it. So very true!! I’m attempting to hold it down though!! lol if you contact me we can get some talk in order.. I have me and SoCole that are coming up quick in the rap game and I got my mama who’s doin this comedy thang all around the world.
So you ask where all the female Divas are? Well, I have an answer for you! I am currently attending Columbia College Chicago, majoring in Music Business Management/Performing Arts. As well as being involved in student organizations i.e. Grammy-U committee officer, SPB-Student programing board, C.U.M.A- Columbia’s Urban Music Association. I have interned at Music Mind Records in Chicago doing Marketing/Promotions for Carly Patterson, a former all around Olympic Gold Medalist in the 2004 Athens. After that experience, I went on to my second Record label, DJ Ron Trent’s Prescription Records. I am Ron Trent’s assistant in Marketing/Promotions/Public Relations. I help promote his weekly Listen:UP event as well. I am also indulged in the Hip Hop culture. I would say its a slight obsession. I am a songwriter, aspiring female MC/DJ. I guess I am taking a different approach than most artists tend to do though. Being schooled about the Music Industry/business is most important to me so my strategies will be effective and have a game changing impact world wide! I have chosen this path because the lack of female voices in the culture with alot of work ahead of me, i believe this is just the beginning of what my future plans intend to be! I would love to work with your site because I am all about the female presence in the Hip hop industry!
